Atletico Madrid eyeing move for wonderkid whose contract expires in 2025, Barcelona also aware | OneFootball

Atletico Madrid are intending to be busy again this summer, although they will not be as free-spending as they were in 2024, when the likes of Julian Alvarez, Robin Le Normand, Conor Gallagher and Alexander Sorloth arrived at the Metropolitano.

At this stage, Atleti want to bring in at least four new signings during the summer transfer window. The expected departures of Axel Witsel, Cesar Azpilicueta and Reinildo Mandava mean that all three would need to be replaced, while the club finally wants to secure the services of a defensive midfielder, which is a position that has targeted for a long time. Meanwhile, there is also strong interest in Villarreal playmaker Alex Baena.

Furthermore, Diego Simeone’s return to a 4-4-2 system does mean that a new winger or two could be added in the summer, although it is not a priority position. As such, low cost options would only be considered, and one of those looks to be Roony Bardghji.

Bardghji, who is currently returning from an ACL injury sustained last May, sees his FC Copenhagen contract expire at the end of 2025. It is expected that he will not renew, so the idea would be for him to be available in the summer at a reduced price.

As per MD, Atleti are one of the clubs most interested in signing Bardghji, although there is also many other sides in the race, such as Bayern Munich, Juventus, Manchester United and Chelsea. Meanwhile, Barcelona are also said to be apprised of the situation, although they are not as keen on a move as others.

Bardghji is a risky signing given that he is returning from a long-term injury, although if he can return to the levels that he showed prior to this, he would be an excellent signing for Atletico Madrid, especially as he would likely be acquired for a reduced price.
