La Liga leaders Atlético Madrid have been dealt a setback on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation that Alexander Sørloth is set for an undetermined incoming spell on the sidelines.
Frontman Sørloth for his part featured from the off last night, finding the net twice en route to Atlético marching past Elche in the Copa del Rey.
With 45 minutes on the clock, however, the summer arrival in Madrid was hauled off by boss Diego Simeone.
With no explanation having been provided for as much, fears of a potential injury setback for Sørloth therefore quickly spread.
And, as alluded to above, on Thursday, confirmation of such a setback has been forthcoming.
As per a statement across Atléti’s website and social media platforms:
‘Alexander Sørloth has suffered a moderate injury, according to tests carried out by the Norwegian striker, who was forced to leave the pitch at half-time in Wednesday’s match against Elche.
‘The ‘9’ of the red and white team will undergo physiotherapy sessions and rehabilitation work in the gym and the evolution of his injury will determine his return to competition.’
