Atalanta star Ederson added to Brazil squad for 2026 World Cup clash | OneFootball

Atalanta midfielder Ederson is a late addition to the Brazil squad for their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against Argentina.

He is one of several changes to the group following the 2-1 victory over Colombia.

Gerson and Alisson Becker were released following injuries, while Gabriel Magalhaes and Bruno Guimaraes are suspended.

Coach Dorival Jr. has therefore called in Ederson, Joao Gomes of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Paris Saint-Germain defender Beraldo and Palmeiras goalkeeper Weverton.

Brazil go head to head with Argentina in Buenos Aires on Tuesday night.

Ederson hoping for third Brazil cap

Ederson impressed enough with Atalanta to earn himself two previous senior caps for Brazil, playing in June and July 2024.

Despite helping Atalanta win the Europa League last season and challenge for the Serie A title this term, he had otherwise been left out of the group.

So far this season, the 25-year-old has made 41 competitive appearances for Atalanta, scoring four goals and providing two assists.

It will not be too much of a strain on their resources, as he is set to sit out a Serie A ban for the next match anyway.
