Atalanta are planning to submit an offer worth €40 million to Fulham for Rodrigo Muniz (h/t La Gazzetta dello Sport).
The Italian giants are ushering in a new era after losing Gian Piero Gasperini, Matteo Ruggeri and Mateo Retegui this summer.
Ademola Lookman could be the next in line, with Inter Milan keen on signing him. Muniz has now signalled his desire to move to Atalanta.
The Cottagers want €45m to part ways with Muniz, but the Serie A outfit are confident they can secure a deal for a slightly lower fee plus additional bonuses.
Jean-Philippe Mateta is top of Atalanta’s wish list, but Crystal Palace are firm on their €50m price tag.
Muniz has turned heads with his stellar performances for Marco Silva’s side despite not being a regular starter.
The 24-year-old bagged 11 goals and two assists last season, but his underlying statistics speak volumes about his potential.
He ranks in the 95th percentile for non-penalty goals, 91st for total shots and 96th for shots on target per game in Europe’s top leagues.
Muniz has top-quality poaching instincts to be the long-term successor of Retegui, who was Serie A’s top scorer last term.
Leeds United have reportedly withdrawn their interest in Muniz and turned their attention towards AS Roma’s Artem Dovbyk.
Newcastle United have also been credited with an interest, but their focus is currently on Brentford’s Yoanne Wissa.
