According to a report by Caught Offside, Aston Villa are on the brink of completing the signing of Marco Asensio from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth up to €15 million. The transfer, if finalised, would mark one of the most exciting moves of Villa’s summer business and provide Unai Emery with another proven attacking option.
Asensio already knows what it feels like to play in claret and blue after arriving on loan for the second half of the 2024/25 season. During that spell, he scored eight goals and added an assist in just a handful of games, showing a level of quality and versatility that quickly made him a favourite among Villa fans.
The Spanish international’s ability to operate across the front line was invaluable to Emery, and it is no surprise the manager has been pushing hard to bring him back. As the article highlights, “Emery has been a strong advocate for bringing the Spaniard back permanently, seeing him as a player who can add creativity, experience, and quality to Villa’s attacking options.”

The move has been made possible thanks to the £40 million sale of Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle United. That deal not only provided transfer funds but also opened up a squad place, allowing Villa to act decisively in pursuit of Asensio. Caught Offside report that Villa have already agreed a three-year contract with the player, underlining their faith in his ability to contribute at the highest level.
From PSG’s perspective, the Ligue 1 champions are ready to move on. As the original report explained, “Though his current deal in Paris runs until June 2026, head coach Luis Enrique has made it clear that Asensio does not fit into his long-term plans.”
Villa appear to have navigated competition well. Fenerbahce were initially close to a deal, but wage demands proved an obstacle, while Benfica’s €11 million offer failed to match PSG’s valuation. With other suitors now out of the frame, Villa are firmly in pole position to secure the player’s services.
As negotiations move towards their conclusion, the Midlands club are set to win the race, and this could be a transformative signing for Emery’s squad as they look to build on last season’s strong progress.
As a Villa supporter, the thought of Marco Asensio returning permanently fills me with genuine excitement. His short time at the club last season was enough to show that he is a player who can thrive in the Premier League. Eight goals in half a campaign speaks volumes about his ability to deliver in crucial moments, and his knack for finding space gave our attack a completely different edge.
The fact that Emery has pushed so strongly for this deal shows just how highly he values Asensio’s qualities. Our manager knows him inside out and trusts him to execute his tactical vision. That reassurance alone should make Villa fans confident that Asensio will be central to our push for European football again.
Some may worry about the departure of Jacob Ramsey, but turning that move into both funds and room for Asensio seems smart business. A three-year contract ensures stability, and at €15 million, this feels like a bargain for a player of his pedigree and Champions League experience.
This is exactly the type of ambitious signing that demonstrates Villa’s intent to keep climbing. If he replicates the form he showed on loan, Villa Park could be watching one of the most shrewd pieces of business of the entire Premier League window.
