Aston Villa are reportedly in contact to sign Porto’s dynamic young striker Samu Aghehowa, whom Spanish scouts have described as “one of Europe’s most prolific players”.
The 22‑year‑old Spaniard impressed massively during his debut season in the Primeira Liga, netting 13 goals in just 17 league games and topping Porto’s scoring chart with his pace, power and physical presence.
Reports from the Daily Mail claim that Villa are believed to have lodged a formal £55 million enquiry—matching Porto’s valuation—and are ready to test their resolve with a concrete offer.
Aghehowa is targeted as a direct replacement for Jhon Durán, who departed for Saudi Arabia in January, leaving Ollie Watkins as Villa’s only Premier League–proven centre‑forward following the termination of Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio's loans'
Unai Emery is understood to be seeking reinforcements capable of both competing with Watkins and challenging across multiple European and domestic fronts next season.
Villa’s interest in Samu Aghehowa follows earlier targeting of other forwards, including Juventus striker Dusan Vlahović, with both Villa and Arsenal circling a potential bargain fee as the Serbian enters the final year of his contract
