While Mikel Arteta no doubt has bigger things in mind this season - especially with this game coming just three days after a thrilling and dramatic 2-2 draw with Manchester City in the Premier League - the collection of more silverware can hardly be a bad thing.

Domestic cup competitions have proven something of a second thought for Arteta in recent seasons as they attempt to end a 20-year wait for the title but winning the FA Cup so early into his tenure is arguably what kept him in a job during the early few months of his spell in charge.

Here’s everything you need to know about the game.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Arsenal vs Bolton is scheduled for a 7.45pm BST kick-off time on Wednesday 25 September, 2024.

The Emirates Stadium in London will host.

Arsenal vs Bolton team news

Arsenal will be without the suspended Leandro Trossard, who serves a one-match ban for picking up two yellow cards in the draw at Manchester City.

Up to 12 players could join the Belgian on the sidelines, with Martin Odegaard, Mikel Merino, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney all still out and Arteta hinting at a potentially serious injury suffered at the weekend.

Riccardo Calafiori, Gabriel Martinelli and Jurrien Timber were all forced off against City, while David Raya also went down and was seen after the game limping with a bandage on his knee.

If the Spaniard is not passed fit, then either 16-year-old Jack Porter or 18-year-old Alexei Rojas could be in line for a shock senior debut in goal against Bolton with Bournemouth loanee Neto cup-tied and third-choice Tommy Setford also out injured.

Arsenal’s selection woes are likely to lead to chances for the likes of youngsters Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly on Wednesday.
