Arsenal are weighing up a move for Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze, who has a £68m release clause in his contract at Selhurst Park.

Eze has emerged as an option for Arsenal as the Gunners look to add goals and creativity to their frontline.

The 26-year-old scored 14 goals in all competitions for Palace last season, adding 11 assists. His return included the decisive goal as the Eagles beat Manchester City 1-0 in the FA Cup final to secure their first-ever major trophy.

Eze is expected to depart Palace this summer, due to the release clause in his contract. Tottenham Hotspur are considering activating the clause in a club-record deal but could now face competition from North London rivals Arsenal.

The midfielder’s ability to operate across the final third appeals to Mikel Arteta, who is considering Eze as an alternative to Real Madrid winger Rodrygo. The latter is deliberating his future at Real Madrid and is valued at €90m (£76.7m) at the Bernabeu.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed Eze is now an option for Arsenal. He has been placed on a shortlist of alternatives that also includes Feyenoord’s Igor Paixão. Eze’s release clause at Palace can be paid in instalments.

Arsenal are stepping up their efforts to strengthen the squad this summer. Deals have been agreed for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, Brentford captain Christian Norgaard, and Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Negotiations are also underway with Valencia over the signing of Spain u-21 centre-back Cristhian Mosquera.

In addition, Arsenal remain determined to sign a centre-forward. Discussions have been held for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko and Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres.
