Arsenal Stand Firm As PSG And Real Madrid Eye Their Top Defender

Arsenal have made it crystal clear that William Saliba is not for sale, rejecting approaches from both PSG and Real Madrid, as per Just Arsenal sources. The Gunners see the Frenchman as the cornerstone of their defence for years to come and are determined to secure his long-term future.

Arsenal make Saliba renewal a top priority

Real Madrid in particular have pushed hard, with Saliba described internally as a “generational talent” and viewed as the ideal centre-back to build their next era around. However, according to previous reports, Arsenal were unmoved even when Madrid considered offering €100m for the defender.

New sporting director Andrea Berta has made it his top priority to finalise a fresh deal for Saliba. The French international, already tied down until 2027, is expected to be offered an extension that would raise his wages to around £250,000 per week – putting him among the highest earners at the club. Talks are said to be progressing positively, with Saliba himself hinting that a new deal is close after stating, “I hope soon.” He has already completed media duties linked to the renewal.

PSG and Madrid switch focus after rejection

For Mikel Arteta, Saliba is simply indispensable. His influence at the back since breaking into the side has been enormous, losing him was never considered an option.

With Arsenal holding firm, both PSG and Madrid are now shifting focus. Madrid in particular have turned their attention to Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté, who has so far rejected contract extensions and could be available on a free transfer in 2026.

For Arsenal fans, the message is clear: William Saliba is here to stay, and the club intend to reward him accordingly.
