Over the last 2 months, FC Barcelona have been working on ensuring the future of some of their important players, and in this regard, they have successfully completed the operations for the renewals of players like Ronald Araujo, Pedri, Gavi, and Pau Cubarsi.
The Catalans are now working on completing the renewals of several other players, but one operation that continues to be a tough nut to crack is the renewal of the midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
The Dutchman’s contract is ending in 2026, and as things stand, he is yet to arrive at an agreement with the Blaugranes to extend his contract. If they are unable to extend his contract before next summer, the midfielder will be placed on the transfer list, so Barcelona can avoid losing him for free next year.

In such a context, Fichajes reports that a big European side is already interested in him, as Arsenal are looking to bring in a big name for their midfield in the summer. For this purpose, the Gunners have set sights on the Blaugrana captain and can offer up to €75 million for his signing.
Such a sum would certainly be tempting to the Catalans, not only because of the financial problems they have been facing for some years now but also because of the uncertainty surrounding Frenkie’s future at the club.
The 27-year-old Dutchman’s position was even precarious a few months ago, but Hansi Flick is now giving him a more prominent position in his team. Similarly, recent reports suggest that he himself is now also more open to negotiating with Barcelona for a renewal.
However, until he reaches an agreement, his situation at the Catalan club will remain subject to uncertainty. In this situation, the Premier League remains a likely destination for the midfielder, as Liverpool are also interested in his signing.
