Arsenal have reached an agreement in principle with Ethan Nwaneri over new contract at the Emirates.
Nwaneri’s current deal at Arsenal is due to expire next summer and several sides have been monitoring the teenager’s situation, including Chelsea.
The 18-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season last term, scoring nine times in 37 appearances for the senior side. He has been nominated for the 2024/25 PFA Young Player of the Year award.
Nwaneri had been keen to receive assurances over his role at Arsenal before agreeing terms on a new contract. The Gunners are finalising the signing of Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, while interest remains in signing Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze and another option at left-wing.
Given the increased competition for roles in the final third, Nwaneri wanted clarity on where he features in Mikel Arteta’s plans before signing fresh terms.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Nwaneri and his representatives have now reached an agreement in principle for a new contract.
Despite interest from rival clubs, the England u-21 international always prioritised an extension in North London.
