Viktor Gyökeres has attracted interest from several top European clubs as the 2025 transfer window nears, with reports suggesting that Sporting Lisbon may be open to selling their star forward. While multiple teams are in the running for the Swedish striker, Paris Saint-Germain could explore other options for their No. 9 position.

Foot Mercato recently reported that PSG sporting advisor Luís Campos has already started talks with Gyökeres’ representatives. However, discussions with manager Luis Enrique have raised questions about whether the striker fits into the team’s plans.

This uncertainty could lead PSG to look for alternatives that better match Enrique’s tactical approach. According to Fichajes, Enrique views Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak as a strong candidate for his project, highlighting the Swedish forward’s pace, technical ability, and finishing skills as ideal for the offensive system Enrique wants to build.

The same report notes that while Newcastle United are eager to keep Isak, PSG is reportedly ready to offer close to €100 million, a sum that could make the English club reconsider their stance.

PSG aren’t the only club dreaming of landing the Sweden international in 2025 as Arsenal also want the player. Nonetheless, it’s a complicated pursuit for the two sides.

Ben Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT that Arsenal’s top target is Isak. While the striker is eager to play at the highest level, he’s content at Newcastle, where he’s beloved by the fans and fully committed to the project under Eddie Howe.

“I mean, Arsenal’s dream priority is Alexander Isak, and I’m still told that he would like to join a Champions League club and stay in the Premier League in the long run,” Jacobs said. “But of course, in the short-to-medium term, he’s on fire for Newcastle United.

“He’s invested at Newcastle, and he’s well contracted at Newcastle, so they aren’t worried about necessarily losing Isak imminently, nor do they feel they absolutely have to agree a new contract with him because he remains healthily contracted. So it’s a bit of a dream target for Arsenal.”

CaughtOffside recently reported that Newcastle might consider signing Gyökeres if Isak leaves, though such a move seems unlikely in the January transfer window.

The outlet also mentioned that Arsenal and Chelsea are keeping an eye on Isak, although both clubs are reportedly unwilling to meet Newcastle’s £115 million asking price for the Swedish forward.

In 18 appearances across all competitions, Isake has scored 11 goals while recording four assists for the Magpies this 2024-25 season.
