There is an outside chance that Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard could be available for the Premier League game against Newcastle United on Saturday, according to the Evening Standard.

The Norway international has missed the last 11 games across all competitions for the Gunners after damaging his ankle ligaments in a friendly against Austria on September 9, but Arsenal are hopeful he will be back for next week’s Champions League match away at Inter Milan.

Odegaard is progressing well in his recovery from the ankle injury after manager Mikel Arteta confirmed he is back on grass, and he could return sooner than expected.

However, the North Londoners are wary not to rush the 25-year-old back to action given the big games ahead of them.

They face Inter next Wednesday in Italy in their fourth game of the Champions League group phase before visiting Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea for their 11th Premier League game of 2024-25.

The November international break follows afterwards and Arsenal will take their time before making a final decision on Odegaard.

The Gunners have missed the creativity of their captain in the middle of the park and final third, and having him back for those huge games will be a massive boost.

They have drawn three games and lost one across all competitions in his absence, and having him on the bench against Newcastle could come in handy.

Having the option to call upon such a quality player during the game if need be will be huge for Arteta, and the Arsenal fans cannot wait to see Odegaard back in action.

They are without victory in their last two league games following a defeat to Bournemouth and a draw against Liverpool, and anything apart from a win on Saturday will further deal a blow on their title chances.
