Karl Hein’s departure from Arsenal is becoming increasingly likely, with growing interest across Europe in the Estonian goalkeeper. Currently third choice at the Emirates, Hein is eager to find a club where he can play regularly and continue his development.
Hein spent last season on loan at Real Valladolid, gaining valuable experience in La Liga. Although he featured in a competitive environment, Valladolid suffered relegation which has left the young keeper searching for a fresh challenge this summer. Arsenal, meanwhile, are focused on trimming their squad and a permanent move for Hein now looks increasingly realistic.
According to JustArsenal sources, Werder Bremen are one of the clubs seriously considering Hein as they look to rebuild their goalkeeping department. After selling their No.1, Michael Zetterer, to Eintracht Frankfurt for €5 million, the Bundesliga side are looking for a more ambitious profile between the sticks. , Goalkeeping coach Christian Vander is believed to be evaluating Hein closely and the club appear keen to secure someone with international pedigree rather than rely on stop-gap options such as Alexander Schwolow.
Interest is not limited to Germany. In Turkey, Rizespor have already opened talks with Arsenal, with the Süper Lig side planning to make Hein their starting goalkeeper. Such a move would align perfectly with the player’s own desire to take the next big step in his career.
Rangers are also monitoring the situation as they seek competition for Jack Butland. Manager Russell Martin has already made nine new signings this summer but is understood to want further strength in depth. Hein’s maturity, despite his young age, and his consistent international appearances for Estonia make him an appealing target for the Scottish giants.
Hein signed a new contract with the Gunners last summer, but his exit now appears closer than ever, and it will be intriguing to see which of these suitors manage to win the race for his signature.
Could Hein’s be the first in the expected wave of exits?
