Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has posted an encouraging new update on his recovery from a serious knee injury.

The Brazilian international suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear during an FA Cup tie against Manchester United in mid-January and was subsequently ruled out for the rest of the season as he underwent surgery.

Other clips included show the 28-year-old leaping forwards from a squat position and running on a treadmill.

“It’s been 6 months since the surgery, it’s great to be able to move around like this again,” Jesus wrote in the post’s caption.

Club, player and Arsenal fans alike will all hope that the ex-Manchester City forward, who has struggled with knee issues repeatedly since his arrival at the Emirates Stadium in the summer of 2022, continues his recovery during pre-season ahead of the new Premier League campaign kicking off in August, particularly given that the Gunners have been handed what looks to be a tricky opening fixture run.

But Jesus’s availability is unlikely to dissuade anyone in the Arsenal camp from pushing for a new striker, in a bid to avoid a repeat of the injury crisis that - after makeshift No9 Kai Havertz went down with a hamstring issue which also required surgery a few weeks later - left the north Londoners without a recognised frontman for most of the second half of last season.
