The Gunners may have to look at an alternative, and The Athletic claims they could consider a move for Paris Saint-Germain attacker Lee Kang-in.

The South Korea international has been a regular under manager Luis Enrique, but he is open to a new challenge away from Parc des Princes this year.

Les Parisiens are not actively looking to sell him. Kang-in was purchased for £18.2m from Real Mallorca, and it would take at least double to persuade them.

Arsenal have followed the 23-year-old for some time. They could make a move if PSG open the door for a loan deal with a buy clause.

Kang-in on loan would be a shrewd signing

Kang-in had a decent debut season with PSG, registering five goals and five assists from 36 appearances across all competitions.

He has fared better this season with six goals and two assists from 24 outings.

The left-footed ace has predominantly played as a right winger this term, but he can also comfortably operate from the number 10 and left-wing roles.

Kang-in has also featured as an emergency striker for PSG. His versatility could be a major reason behind the Gunners’ interest.

Arteta likes to work with players with a lot of flexibility and Kang-in would be a shrewd signing on loan with an option to purchase next summer.

His arrival may not necessarily block a summer move for Williams, as he can play anywhere in attack.

The Gunners could make a serious effort to land the Spaniard at the end of the season.
