The standout young talents at Spanish football’s two leading clubs have on Thursday been named as nominees for a prestigious individual accolade.
The prize in question? Globe Soccer’s 2024 ‘Emerging Player’.
For those not familar with the process, the Globe Soccer awards are held on an annual basis in Dubai, UAE, with the aim of recognising the game’s standout players.
The ‘Emerging Player’ accolade is handed out to the best up-and-coming talent in world football over the course of the previous year.
It is currently held by Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham.
And, this time round, one of Bellingham’s Blancos teammates is in the running, in the form of Turkish international Arda Güler.
The midfielder, though, faces stiff competition for the award, chiefly from a pair of players at Real’s Clásico rivals, Barcelona.
This comes with Pau Cubarsí and recent Kopa Trophy winner Lamine Yamal – the favourite to emerge triumphant – also amongst the nominees.
