Hansi Flick, much like in his first year, will again work with a strong group of academy players during Barcelona’s upcoming pre-season.
Only Gerard Martin, who requires surgery after a metacarpal injury, and Pablo Torre, currently playing in the Under-21 European Championship and likely to depart this summer, are expected to miss the start of pre-season.
Everyone else will begin from day one, which is excellent news for Flick. Additionally, with Barcelona not participating in the FIFA Club World Cup, the squad will be mentally and physically fresh to prepare properly for the new campaign.
Several promising youth players will join the first team for pre-season training, including Pedro Fernandez, Juan Hernandez, Jofre Torrents, Landry Farre, and Toni Fernandez.
As reported earlier today, Ibrahim Diarra is also expected to take part in some sessions.
Now, according to SPORT, another La Masia player who, barring surprises, will start pre-season with the Barcelona first-team setup under Flick’s orders is Guille Fernandez.

The midfielder, widely seen as one of La Masia’s top prospects, is just 17 years old and will be a second-year youth player next season. He has already had a prominent role with Barça Atletic over the past year.
It has not been an easy few months, for him or for the team, but the experience has provided valuable learning at this early stage of his career.
Flick wants to involve Guille in the first few weeks of pre-season. The plan also includes taking him on the club’s Asian tour – he already participated in last year’s tour of the United States.
As for his short-term future, Guille is eager to stay at Barcelona and prove his unquestionable talent. However, he is aware that his position in midfield is heavily populated, and securing a place will be challenging. Still, many scenarios are possible.
Several paths remain open. Guille has received attractive offers from clubs such as Porto and Borussia Dortmund, both known for developing young talent.
For now, his focus is fully on Barcelona. What comes next remains to be seen. All options are on the table – whether that means staying, a transfer with a buy-back clause, or a loan move.
