On Wednesday 26th, Tottenham faced Manchester City in a Premier League clash, and unfortunately, it was not a victorious night.

Despite the Spurs going into the match on a three-game unbeaten run in the league, their streak came to an end after being defeated 0-1, with City’s unstoppable Erling Haaland securing the win.

Tottenham had plenty of opportunities to equalise in the second half but ultimately failed to convert their chances.

In a post-match press conference, Spurs’ manager shared his thoughts on tonight’s performance.

Speaking to Football London, the Australian coach addressed several key topics.

"It’s disappointing to lose again and that’s the main feeling. It did look more like us today," he admitted. "Disappointing to lose but I think you see the benefit of us being refreshed and going into a game well prepared."

When asked about Wilson Odobert’s return to action after being sidelined since September, Postecoglou had this to say: "I thought he was great. It was important tonight that him, Destiny and Brennan got some minutes.

"He is an exciting player and if we can manage him through this period and get him to a really decent level of fitness, I’m sure he will help us finish the season strong."

Several supporters and members of the press noticed Postecoglou having a long conversation with City’s boss, Pep Guardiola. When asked about it, he responded:

"(Grins) Well you are prying. No, no, no, just a couple of managers sharing their thoughts, that's it."

Another big talking point among fans was the omission of Heung-min Son from the starting XI. This raised concerns, especially amid recent rumours suggesting the captain is no longer considered a guaranteed starter.

However, the manager clarified his decision: "It wasn't their turn, but like I said, it's just, there's no point having a squad and I can't be sitting here bemoaning not having a squad and then not use it (when I do).

"I think that'd be highly hypocritical of me, but we needed Destiny, Brennan and and Wilson to play today and get some minutes," he explained.

"Deki, Sonny and Djed have, you know, played an enormous amount of time, so having them have a little bit of a recovery and a breather, I thought was going to be helpful for us."

What’s next for Tottenham?

So, after this disappointing defeat at the hands of Pep Guardiola’s side, Spurs have dropped a place in the Premier League table. They now sit in 13th, just one spot above Manchester United.

For now, all that remains is to reflect on that final moment when Sarr missed a big chance to equalise, keeping everyone on the edge of their seats, and to hope for a better outcome in the next match.
