Speaking following Tottenham’s 1-1 draw against West Ham United at the London Stadium yesterday, Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou says that young French striker Mathys Tel is “still learning” but says he believes the striker on loan from Bayern Munich can become a top-level player.“We ask a lot of Mathys Tel, playing on the left and then in the centre. He’s constantly learning. Many of our players will become top-level footballers,” said at a press conference transcribed by L’Équipe. “They have to go through this process of learning, adapting and understanding the demands of the Premier League and this club. We’ve asked a lot of Mathys since he arrived.”Since joining the North London club, the Frenchman has made 10 appearances in the Premier League, scoring twice so far. He has recently been playing a less central role to help with the absence of key man Son Hueng-Min“He has absorbed the information and understands his role a little better, especially on the left side. Once again, he is important to us. Sonny (Son Heung-min) has been out for the last few weeks. We needed him to fill the gap and I think he has done well.”GFFN | George Boxall
