Massimo Ambrosini was present for DAZN’s broadcast of Atalanta-Milan last night and after the final whistle, he shared the view of most Rossoneri fans. Indeed, the feeling is that they didn’t give their all to win the game.
It was a promising first half for Milan, creating some good chances and finding the equaliser through Alvaro Morata. Only two shots on target, but they were at least able to break through Atalanta’s first block several times.
In the second half, however, they had zero shots on target and this is something Ambrosini discussed on DAZN (via MilanNews). He stated that it’s difficult to take any positives from the game, especially since the game was there for the taking at one point.
“When you lose it’s hard to find positives. We need to understand if in that second half, in a balanced situation, he [Fonseca] had the feeling that the team didn’t push forward properly. In the first half, Atalanta gave the feeling that they could suffer. Milan were in the game, but they didn’t take that extra step to try to win it with conviction,” he stated.
Paulo Fonseca was very focused on blaming the referees after the game, but even he admitted that they failed to find the forwards in the second half. The most annoying thing, however, is that the mindset to push forward seemed to be missing.
