Manchester United youngster Amad issued an apology on social media to fans of the club after the 0-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the final of the Europa League.

The young Ivorian was probably United’s biggest attacking threat in the first half but faded as the night went on.

Amad has been one of the few players this season who can be proud of their performances.

He has consolidated himself as one of United’s key players moving forward, scoring 10 goals and providing nine assists in all competitions this season.

These statistics would likely have been much higher but he missed three months of the season due to an ankle injury picked up at the start of February.

Taking to social media after the match, Amad showed good sportsmanship congratulating Spurs for their victory.

He stated, “first of all, I would like to congratulate Tottenham on their victory and then apologize to all Manchester fans around the world.”

Amad then acknowledged how poor the season has been as Ruben Amorim’s side sit in 16th place in the table with just one game left on Sunday versus Aston Villa.

He lamented, “it’s been an unacceptable season, and no one can deny that, but we always put our motivation on the pitch.”

The 22 year old tried to boost the morale of fans by stating that this season was just a blip and that next will certainly go a lot better.

He claimed, “I promise you that a season like this will never happen again at this great club.”

Finally, he thanked the fans for their unwavering support and stated, “you’ve been by our side no matter what.”

In what is lining up to be a big summer of change at Old Trafford, United fans will hope that next season will witness a fully fit Amad who can help rebuild the club into something of its former glories.
