Former Manchester United defender Phil Jones identified a former teammate who had a notorious reputation for arriving late.
The 32-year-old spent the bulk of his career at Old Trafford. He was snapped up by the Red Devils in the summer of 2011 after rising through the ranks at Blackburn Rovers.
The Englishman had a promising start at the club, but recurring injury problems took its toll on his playing levels. He remained at the club until 2023, before announcing his retirement earlier this year.
During his time at Carrington, Jones had his fair share of colorful teammates. But when asked to reveal the Man United star who always arrived late, he didn’t hesitate to name Anthony Martial.
“How long have we got?,” he said jokingly in his interview with Sport Bible. “Anthony Martial… always late. Yeah, always late – training, meetings, bus.”
“Yes, surely he must have been racking up huge fines. But I don’t think it bothered him too much!” added the retired defender.

Like Jones, Martial had arrived at Old Trafford with much fanfare in the summer of 2015, completing a high-profile switch from Monaco.
However, it didn’t truly pan out according to plan for the French striker, and some might argue that his lack of discipline, as attested by Jones, may have been one of the main reasons behind his downfall.
After several underwhelming years with the Red Devils, the 28-year-old left the club in the summer after seeing out his contract.
The France international struggled to find himself a new employer, and ended up signing for Greek side AEK Athens, penning a contract until June 2027.
This season, Martial has thus far scored three goals and provided a single assist in seven appearances across all competitions.
