Alisha Lehmann names ‘important factor’ behind decision to join FC Como from Juventus | OneFootball

Alisha Lehmann has explained her decision to leave Juventus for Italian rivals FC Como.

It was announced on Tuesday that the 26-year-old had decided to make the move between the two Italian clubs.

Lehmann spent just one year at Juventus winning the Italian title, but failing to make her mark on the side, often being left out of their biggest games.

It led to her playing a limited role at Euro 2025 for hosts Switzerland, with just 10 minutes of action.

Reports last week claimed that Lehmann was on the verge of leaving Juventus.

After completing the move to Como, she has explained the most important factor behind her decision.

Why has Alisha Lehmann signed for FC Como?

Alisha Lehmann said that FC Como not being linked to a men’s team was an important factor in her decision to make the switch from Juventus.

She said: “It’s the first time I’ve joined an independent club — not linked to a men’s team. That was an important factor in my decision.

“It shows that there’s a different way to approach football, and maybe it can inspire others to follow this path. I want to be part of that.”

The Switzerland star said she hopes to grow as a footballer and person at Como, and help inspire a new generation of fans.

She said: “I want to help the team compete at the highest level, but also inspire a new generation of fans and athletes. F.C. Como Women is a space where you don’t have to choose between being strong on the pitch and being yourself off it.

“Here, I can be all of who I am – and turn that into something positive, especially for those watching.”

FC Como Women are a separate entity to the men’s Como side that is managed by Cesc Fabregas.

Lehmann leaves Juventus after split from Douglas Luiz

Alisha Lehmann’s decision to leave Juventus comes after she split from partner Douglas Luiz.

The two began a relationship when they both played for Aston Villa. They then made the switch together to Juventus in the summer of 2024.

However, both Lehmann and Luiz struggled to make their mark for their respective Juventus sides.

Luiz was also a notable absentee when Lehmann celebrated the women’s side’s league title success.

Lehmann confirmed in a social media post on May that she and the Brazilian midfielder were no longer an item.

When questioned about Luiz on X, Lehmann simply responded with a red cross emoji.

Luiz has been linked with a return to English football, but at this moment in time, he remains at Juventus.
