Manchester United have given permission to Alejandro Garnacho to join pre-season training at Carrington, as per latest reports.
It seemed like the Argentine was destined to leave the club after his explosive comments following the Europa League final loss, a game in which he started as a substitute.
Ruben Amorim had subsequently declared in front of the dressing room that the Carrington graduate would need to find himself a new club in the summer.
And that was what most outlets were reporting, with the 21-year-old attracting interest from within the Premier League, across Europe as well as Saudi Arabia.
In fact, as recently relayed by The Peoples Person, INEOS had given the winger extra time off, in order for the player to try and find a new home.
But now, ESPN have revealed that Amorim has taken a massive U-turn and has called Alejandro Garnacho to join training.
“Alejandro Garnacho has been given permission to join his Manchester United’s teammates in pre-season training at Carrington amid an uncertain future, sources have told ESPN.
“The Argentina international had been training alone this summer with his future at Old Trafford still not clear. ESPN has already reported that Garnacho, 21, has firm interest from Premier League teams as well as from clubs in Italy and Germany.”
Whether this indicates a thawing in relations between the Argentina international and the Portuguese tactician only time will tell.
Interestingly, this call comes at a time when the Red Devils have struggled to get a deal for Bryan Mbeumo over the line with Brentford’s demands proving difficult to accept.
Last season, the youngster played as one of the two No.10s, and scored 11 goals in 57 games, his most productive senior campaign. Maybe, there is a line of thought regarding keeping him if the deal for the Brentford forward does not pan out.
The United No.17 remains one of the most sellable assets for the club, and with the club struggling to sell Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho, he was earmarked for the biggest sale this window.
INEOS seem to losing their grip judging from their pre-season calls. Rashford returned early despite clear instructions, and is now training away from the main group.
Now Alejandro Garnacho is set to return and join the main group. Hopefully, this does not mess with the positive mood in the camp currently.
Fans would love to see the Argentine remain at the club, given his homegrown status, but Amorim will likely take the final call.
