Deportivo Alavés head coach Eduardo Coudet has revealed his opinion that the introduction of one Barcelona star changed the flow of proceedings between the sides earlier today.
Barcelona of course played host to Alavés on Sunday afternoon, in a La Liga clash.
When all was said and done, the Blaugrana emerged on the right side of the result, thanking a solitary Robert Lewandowski strike for a 1-0 win.
To their credit, visitors Alavés battled hard throughout the clash, limiting their title-chasing hosts to only a few clear-cut chances.
As alluded to above, though, of the opinion that one half-time alteration on the part of Barcelona counterpart Hansi Flick changed the balance of the tie in favour of the hosts is Eduardo Coudet.
Speaking to the media on the back of his side’s defeat, Coudet pointed towards Frenkie de Jong, who replaced Marc Casadó at half-time at Montjuïc, as the difference-maker on the day:
“Barça were better in the second half, especially after Frenkie de Jong came on. Having a player who can drive the ball like him… that’s when they started to break more lines and generate more chances.”
