Al-Hilal have demanded a final answer from Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes over a move to the club by Friday.

Fernandes has held talks with the Saudi Pro League side regarding a lucrative move to the Middle East. The Portugal international’s representatives met with officials from the Saudi side this week with the discussions described as positive.

Al-Hilal want to make Fernandes their marquee signing ahead of this summer’s Club World Cup. The Saudi outfit are prepared to offer a fee in the region of £100m for the Manchester United captain.

No formal approach or offer has yet been submitted for Fernandes, while United do not want to sell the midfielder. Fernandes scored 19 goals and provided 20 assists in all competitions for the Red Devils in 2024/25, despite the club’s worst campaign of the Premier League era.

Al-Hilal believe Manchester United will sell Fernandes if the midfielder expresses interest in an exit. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Fernandes is deliberating the move with his family, considering both sporting and financial factors. He has been offered a contract worth around £700,000-a-week. Al-Hilal have demanded a decision from Fernandes by Friday, before turning their attention to alternatives.

The Saudi side face Real Madrid in their opening fixture of the Club World Cup on June 18th.

Fernandes teammate urges Al-Hilal transfer

Portugal teammate and Al-Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves has endorsed a move to the club for Fernandes. Speaking to A Bola, he said: “I recommend all the players in the national team, of course. Portugal has produced a lot of talent and continues to do so.

“We are a lucky country in that respect. We are also very hard-working. A very small country but one that has produced excellent players. I would like to have any player from the national team in my team.”
