Real Madrid are closely monitoring some of the club’s former stars who are excelling outside the Spanish capital and Miguel Gutierrez is one such player who interests the management.

While there has been no report of overt interest from Real Madrid, he has remained a silent option for a long time now, especially with the left-back market growing increasingly scarce.

The Merengues even have optimal clauses in place if they are to bring back the homegrown star with a fee of €9 million stipulated if they are to sign him this summer.

Gutierrez’s agent speaks out

Speaking to the media in a recent interview on Zona Mixta Podcast, the former Real Madrid ace’s agent Daniel Mendez opened up on his client’s desire to return home and how it would be massive for him.

“We would love for Real Madrid to bring back Miguel. Everyone knows his desire, but it doesn’t depend on him. If he returns, we’ll all be happy.”

The option is not a bad one for Los Blancos for they have been on a mission to rejuvenate their full-back positions for a while now.

The left-back position was initially the department of choice to make a top signing, but Alphonso Davies’ decision to renew with Bayern Munich saw those plans go in vain.

Los Blancos have now identified and taken massive strides towards signing Trent Alexander-Arnold as their new marquee right-back and the constrained budget given the other operations of interest may leave Gutierrez as a great option.

After all, the Girona star has been in great form in recent times and even has 25 league appearances this season with six-goal contributions to his name.

The big question for Carlo Ancelotti and Co. to answer before solving the Gutierrez conundrum is whether or not he is an upgrade over the existing options of Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia.
