Adi Hütter hints at why Strasbourg’s Félix Lemarechal failed to establish himself at Monaco | OneFootball

Despite coming through the ranks at AS Monaco, Félix Lemarechal failed to establish himself at his formative club, making just two first-team appearances.

Coming through the ranks, however, he looked like a player capable of making the step to the first team, as his teammates in the Groupe Élite, the likes of Eliesse Ben Seghir and Soungoutou Magassa, did. However, even after a positive loan spell at satellite club Cercle Brugge last season, he failed to make his way into Adi Hütter’s plans.

The Monaco manager has now suggested why it never worked out for Lemarechal at the Principality club.“In the midfield, Lemarechal is doing really well,” said Hütter, singling out the Frenchman for praise.

“In the end, when I arrived here, I saw that he was a talent. Sometimes, Félix struggled a bit with his personality but when we talk about his skills and quality as a player, he is a good player and now he is showing this in a young team. He suits this club, perfectly and he has been doing really well in the past couple of weeks,” added the Monaco manager.

Lemarechal, as well as Pascal De Maesschalck, who worked with the player during his time as academy manager at the Principality club, both made the move to RC Strasbourg Alsace in the summer. The latter is now a technical director with Les Alsaciens, whilst the former has played times this season, scoring four goals and registering two assists for the first team. Strasbourg face Monaco on Saturday with both clubs in the race to secure UEFA Champions League football.
