AC Milan have identified Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta and Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson as potential striker targets for the summer.

The Rossoneri are in the market for a new centre-forward as manager Massimiliano Allegri looks to build a formidable attacking unit heading into the new season.

Santiago Gimenez is the only reliable striker in the squad after Tammy Abraham and Luka Jovic left Milan.

Alvaro Morata is also closing in on a move to fellow Serie A rivals Como after spending the second half of last season on loan at Galatasaray.

Gimenez hasn’t made a telling impact since his transfer from Feyenoord. Milan want to recruit a top-class striker to compete with the Mexican international.

They have enquired about the possibility of signing Jackson, who has been strongly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

The arrivals of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro have jeopardised the Senegalese striker’s position. He bagged 13 goals and six assists last season, including a strike in the Europa Conference League final victory.

The Blues would only consider Jackson’s sale for a considerable offer. He is determined to continue his progress with the Premier League giants.

Palace striker Mateta has also emerged as Milan’s potential target, but their interest is far from concrete.

The French attacker has rejuvenated himself at Palace after hitting a stellar goalscoring form over the last couple of seasons.

The 28-year-old bagged 17 goals and six assists last term and led Palace to the historic FA Cup glory.

They are working on a new deal for Mateta to fend off suitors. His current contract expires in 2027.

Milan are also keeping tabs on Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, who will cost around €30 million.
