Alessandro Costacurta feels that it’s “like the ball travels faster” when Inter Milan are in possession of it.
The legendary former AC Milan defender praised the Nerazzurri’s crisp possession play on Sky Sport Italia, via FCInter1908.
Inter got a convincing win over Cagliari yesterday evening.
Not overly surprisingly, the Nerazzurri dominated the ball. They had right around two thirds of possession.
But that does not necessarily always translate into goals or results.
Inter have had their share of matches where they’ve looked slow in possession. And in contrast, they have gotten big wins in matches where they’ve not had the majority of the ball.
But yesterday, Inter made the most of the possession that they have.
Particularly in the second half, the tempo with which Inter moved the ball proved to be too much for Cagliari to cope with.
Legendary former Milan and Italy defender Costacurta gave his thoughts on Inter’s performance.
“I really admire the quality of Inter’s play in possession,” he said.
“I get the impression that when the Nerazzurri have the ball, it travels faster than the ball other teams have.”
“That’s the big difference,” Costacurta argued.
The former Rossoneri defender also argued that Inter are “superior to all the other teams” in Serie A.
Meanwhile, Costacurta gave his thoughts on the Serie A title race.
“Atalanta are [Inter’s] main rivals for it,” he argued. “Along with Napoli.”
“But with Inter, the ball just seems to travel faster.”
