A new report suggests that City could sell Jack Grealish but he still has a role to play for the champions | OneFootball

With the transfer window open a host of Manchester City stars have been linked with potential moves from the club. The latest player to be linked with an exit from the Etihad is Jack Grealish. The England international had a disappointing 23/24 season. Injuries, personal issues and poor form saw Grealish have a disappointing campaign. But while he may be linked with a potential departure from the world champions he does appear to have a role to play next season for Manchester City.

Wayne Veysey has reported for footballinsider247.com that Manchester City are ready to sell Grealish this summer. Veysey adds that the champions are concerned about the ‘partying’ of the England international. Furthermore, Veysey reports that Jack Grealish is seen as a ‘fun-loving character’ who is  ‘extremely popular’ in the City dressing room. Lastly, Veysey reports that the champions would be aiming to recoup the majority of the £100 million they spent to sign Grealish if they did sell the winger.

There is no doubt that City could sell Jack Grealish this summer. If the England international was to seek a move elsewhere then the champions would likely sell the winger. But as it stands currently there is no indication of Grealish wanting to leave the club. Veysey’s report indicates that City could look to sell the winger this summer. But that possibility appears unlikely. As Veysey also reports Grealish is an important member of the Manchester City squad.

When he is at his best Jack Grealish is an integral member of Pep Guardiola’s squad. While Jeremy Doku is a more electrifying winger the England international offers a different option on City’s left-hand side. The England international offers control and is often the player who links up City’s free-flowing football. His performance in City’s crucial win over Crystal Palace late last season at Selhurst Park highlights this. The challenge for Grealish is to return to his best form for next season. There is no doubt that he can given the quality of Grealish as a player.

The possibility that City could sell Grealish is a real one this summer. But it does seem improbable. There is an important role for the winger in Pep Guardiola’s squad for next season. The challenge is for Grealish to return his best. It would be to Manchester City’s benefit for it to be at the Etihad and not elsewhere next season.
