‘A massive club with a huge history’ – Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta recalls his playing days at PSG | OneFootball

Mikel Arteta has made an emotional return to Parc des Princes ahead of the Champions League semi-final return leg against PSG. The Arsenal head coach has fond memories of the French capital. Then, a promising Barcelona midfielder, Arteta spent an 18-month loan spell at PSG between 2001 and 2002. “I was very lucky to have 18 months here where I really enjoyed it and I have fascinating memories about it, and it’s great to be back here”, Arteta said during his pre-game press conference at Paris’ Parc des Princes.

Asked if he can bring anything from his playing days at PSG to prepare his Arsenal players ahead of tomorrow, the Spaniard took the opportunity to laud the passion of PSG supporters and the “beautiful” atmosphere they bring to Parc des Princes. “I mean, there is a massive club with a huge history, one city, one team, basically.” Arteta also reminded his audience that Paris was one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
