As the end of the 2024-25 season approaches, FC Barcelona, like other clubs across Europe, are now planning for the next season. For this purpose, the Catalans are looking to reinforce their team in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Blaugranes’ plans for this summer transfer window are already taking their final shape, and some recent reports indicate that the Liverpool forward Luis Diaz is emerging as their top priority target.
However, despite their clear priority, signing him will not really be easy, and Barcelona will have to get involved in a highly complicated operation to sign the Colombian forward.
One factor that makes this operation complicated is the lack of FFP margin enjoyed by the Blaugranes. However, the Catalans are confident they will get over this problem and return to the 1:1 rule this summer.
But for the time being, the Azulgrana side is clear that they will renew some of their key stars, including Raphinha, Frenkie de Jong, and Lamine Yamal, before thinking about the market.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are also keen to ensure they do not lose another of their stars, like Trent Alexander-Arnold, for free. And thus, are clear that they will either renew Luis Diaz or let him leave this summer for a price of €85 million.

In fact, the Colombian forward already has a two-year renewal offer already on the table, which will extend his contract till 2029 and will significantly improve the wages he gets from the Merseyside club.
In such a context, SPORT reports that the player will have to do his part if he wants to play for Barcelona next season, and is seemingly ready to do it as his entourage has postponed any talks with the Premier League side for his renewal till July.
The two parties have an excellent relationship, but Luis Diaz does not want to miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to play for the Blaugrana club, and thus is willing to wait till the Catalans get their affairs in order to make the next move for his signing.
