An exciting winger is very keen to move to Liverpool according to a recent report.
It's an interesting time at Anfield right now. Despite the Reds being Premier League champions, the club are about to embark on a bit of an overhaul.
Richard Hughes is planning to bolster Liverpool's options from a position of strength. This will involve some players leaving, with Darwin Nunez likely to depart. But do not rule out Luis Diaz leaving for pastures new as well.
At the same time, Hughes has already secured the arrival of Jeremie Frimpong and will look to seal Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz in the coming days and weeks ahead.
The likelihood is that Hughes will not stop there. He will want to reinforce Liverpool's options even further. If as expected Nunez leaves, Hughes will want to bring in a no.9 and if Diaz leaves, he'll likely want to sign a left-winger as well.
Replacing the Colombian is not going to be an easy task. There are few players who are as good as he is on the market right now.
But at the same time, Liverpool have yet to agree a contract extension with him and he is entering the final two years of his current deal.
At 28-years-old and approaching his 29th years next season, Liverpool will be reluctant to hand him a big long-term deal. Which is what might force Diaz's hand to leave and seek opportunities elsewhere.
If that happens, while there aren't many players good enough to replace Diaz, Liverpool do have an obvious solution in Anthony Gordon.
Once an academy player at the club, Gordon was released and went onto play for Everton. Last season, he was a target for Liverpool whilst he was at Newcastle United but a move never came to fruition.
This time around, it looks like he's going to be a target again. That's according to TeamTalk who report that Liverpool are interested in Gordon and that Newcastle would require at least £80m to part ways with him.
The report also claims that while Gordon is content at Newcastle, he would be 'very keen' on the move to Anfield.
That's no surprise given he has a close relationship with the city and his family are all Liverpool supporters. His close friend, Curtis Jones also plays for Liverpool, which is something to take into account.
On paper, with Liverpool looking to add more speed to their attacking line-up, Gordon makes the most sense. £80m is a lot of money to pay for him but he's homegrown and he's got an abundance of quality.
He's also entering the prime years of his career, Liverpool would be bringing someone in who could compete at the highest of levels for the next 5-10 years.
Breaking the bank if Diaz leaves would be a lot easier given the Reds are going to try and hold out to get the maximum possible from selling their prized asset.
So, this one is definitely one to keep an eye on.
