Eight members of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona opted to report for training, despite being afforded the day off on Monday.
That’s according to journalist Carlos Monfort of Jijantes, who has provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.
Barcelona were of course back in action on Sunday night, when they made the trip to Andalusia for a La Liga meeting with Sevilla.
When all was said and done, the Blaugrana emerged on the right side of a 4-1 result, to close the gap on table-topping Real Madrid to just two points.
Barca’s stars can now look forward to a rare break in their hectic recent fixture list, not scheduled to return to action until next Monday against Rayo Vallecano.
Boss Hansi Flick therefore opted to afford his squad a full three days of rest to start the week.
As alluded to above, though, this did not stop a group of the Catalans’ players from turning up at The Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, for a recovery training session on Monday.
As per Carlos Monfort, present at Barcelona’s training ground this morning were all of Ansu Fati, Wojciech Szczęsny, Andreas Christensen, Iñaki Peña, Ferran Torres, Dani Olmo, Fermín López, and Robert Lewandowski.
