Bristol City should hope to receive a healthy transfer fee if they are to lose top goalscorer Anis Mehmeti this summer, according to FLW’s Robins fan pundit.

Currently sat eighth in the second-tier table, City's potential play-off push has been led by the goals of Mehmeti.

The English-born Albanian international has 11 goals in 31 Championship appearances this term, becoming somewhat of a star turn for Bristol City during the 2024/25 campaign.

Mehmeti has already produced the most league goals in a season for the South West club since Andreas Weimann notched 22 in the 2021/22 campaign.

Anis Mehmeti should fetch £8-10 million if Bristol City sell winger

Mehmeti was brought to Ashton Gate in order to fill the void vacated by Antoine Semenyo, who left Bristol City to join Premier League AFC Bournemouth in a £10.5million move.

Football League World’s Bristol City fan pundit Jack Buchanan believes his club should ask for a similar fee for Mehmeti, if the winger is to leave the club in the summer.

Jack told FLW: “I think when it comes to Anis Mehmeti you’ve got to be looking at around the £8-10 million mark.

“I think that is probably fair. He’s not quite as consistent as I think we’d like.

“He has been our top goalscorer this season, he has 11 goals now – I'm buzzing for him.”

Settled Anis Mehmeti hitting new heights for Bristol City

Signed for a reported £1 million in January 2023 from League One Wycombe Wanderers, Mehmeti took some to fully get up to speed in Bristol.

In his debut half-campaign as a Robin, the Albanian scored just once in 15 Championship appearances – only seven of which were starts.

The 2023/24 season, his first full season at Ashton Gate, was slightly more productive with four goals in 38 Championship games.

But again gametime was slightly limited for the winger, playing the full 90 minutes on just four occasions.

However, this campaign has seen the former Chairboy develop into a consistent starter for the Robins.

In 31 appearances, Mehmeti has made 24 starts, playing 70% of minutes in Bristol City’s Championship campaign to date.

“It took him a very long time to settle into the club,” Buchanan continued.

“He’s been here two and a little bit years now – January 2023 it was he signed. It’s taken him until this season to really get going.

“So probably somewhere between the £8m-10m mark. It wouldn’t surprise me if people were in for him in the summer. I’m hoping that we’ll be able to hold on to him.”

Bristol City’s ability to hold out for a big transfer fee will be limited by the fact that Mehmeti’s contract at Ashton Gate expires next summer.

Upon his arrival at the Robins from Wycombe, Mehmeti signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with Bristol City – which means he will enter the final 12 months of his contract this summer.

Worryingly for Bristol City fans, there has been little talk of a new deal for the winger so far this season.
