FC Barcelona are set to begin their preparations for the 2025-26 season on July 13th, as this is the day that the players will report to Hansi Flick for their medical tests and examinations before the start of training.
For now, most of these players are enjoying their vacations after a very successful 2024-25 season, in which they won the La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup titles.
Meanwhile, some of these players are still on international duty. This is the case with Pablo Torre, who is a part of the Spanish team for the UEFA European U-23 Championship, which is currently underway in Romania.
Gerard Martin was another member of the Spanish squad for this competition, but was unfortunate to suffer a hand injury which brought an early end to this campaign for the fullback. After playing only one half in the opening game against Slovakia, he left the national team camp and returned to Barcelona to recover from this injury.
In this regard, Mundo Deportivo highlights that he is set to undergo surgery today, which will be aimed at repairing the dislocation at the base of the fifth metacarpal in his right hand.
As Barcelona had announced in an official statement, the intervention will be undertaken by Dr. Xavier Mir at Barcelona Hospital, and will be supervised by the club’s medical services. The Blaugranes will announce the outcome of the surgery once it is finished.
This medical intervention is not expected to keep the player out for long, and he will be ready for the start of the pre-season training on July 13th.
Meanwhile, Gerard Martin has his future quite secure at Barcelona for the next season, as he has asked his representatives not to listen to offers for him, while the Catalan club is also not considering a departure for him.
