Chelsea had a really enjoyable late win over Fulham on Sunday, but we shouldn’t let the fact that they got 3 points distract us from the fact that they played very poorly in the game – and have been very poor since Christmas.
Janusz Michallik spoke about this on ESPN, and warned people not to get carried away:
“[Chelsea won’t take] much momentum from the win, until the last couple of minutes [they were poor]. We’ll see where that takes them, because they’ll know deep down in that dressing room that they escaped, as I mentioned. So can a win like this lead you on and push you on to finish for sure in the top 5? We’ll find out a lot about this win, because normally when you win a game like this, very late, that should push you on. With Chelsea I’m not so sure, because nobody is playing anywhere near their best.”

Michalik also laid into the amount of money that had been spent for little reward:
“£105m for Caicedo, £107m for Enzo Fernandez. That’s almost £225m, I don’t like to talk about money but I could make two good teams out of that… [at least] one, for sure. So at some stage you have to look at that… if you look at the midfield alone, the engine of that, I saw Sasa Lukic and Sander Berge dominating the middle of the pitch. So there may be some momentum, but this is the first time I really, really worry about Chelsea.”
He’s not wrong. Just when we needed them most, their form has started to fall away.
