The competition for starting places at FC Barcelona remains as intense as ever. Under Hansi Flick, a special focus has remained on meritocracy rather than simply favoring the regular star players. The players who perform continue to have the Barcelona coach’s trust, while others are still fighting for opportunities.

At this point in time, it would appear that the German coach has already found a reliable set of starters for his team. Even without several key players who are currently recovering from their respective injuries, the Barcelona head coach has managed to assemble a squad that is capable of rattling even the toughest of opponents.

However, the competition in question is expected to reach new heights once the injured players return. At the moment, the game against Sevilla right after the international break is being seen as the occasion on which several key players will make their long-awaited returns.

Yet, the return of these players and the others who will arrive after them is set to become a significant problem for a certain young midfielder. Aged 21, Pablo Torre could see his future at the club become jeopardized once Hansi Flick has access to all his midfield options.

That is because, as highlighted by SPORT, Torre’s involvement in the team is already irregular even when Flick has had to deal with a depleted squad, and those few minutes could vanish entirely as well once even more midfielders enter the picture at Barcelona.

Consequently, the player’s future may have to be assessed between the club and his entourage in January of next year. Due to a lack of minutes or any other possible issue, it may be in the best interests of both the player and the club to find a new home for him in case he is unable to find continuity at Barcelona, even if it is a temporary leave.

He has already shown his worth at Girona last season on loan and he has made some great cameos this season as well to help Hansi Flick. With 195 minutes played across all competitions this season, Torre has managed to score once and also provided an assist. However, only time will tell what lies ahead in his future with Barcelona.

Pedri, Dani Olmo, Gavi, and even Raphinha are all able to play in his preferred position. Similarly, Marc Casado, Andreas Christensen, and Eric Garcia are already options to be used as more defensive midfielders as per Hansi Flick’s requirements. In many ways, Torre simply cannot find a clear opening at Barcelona at this point in time. Moreover, with his contract set to expire in 2026, the Catalan club may move swiftly to either retain his services or offload him timely to generate some much-needed revenue.
