Bayern München 4-3 Holstein Kiel

Amid the ongoing discussions surrounding Mathys Tel’s departure, Bayern München found a welcome distraction on the pitch with a composed first-half performance.

Kiel had a golden opportunity to shock the visitors in the 12th minute when Phil Harres found space inside the box, but his left-footed effort drifted wide, an opportunity rarely afforded against a side as ruthless as Bayern.

Jamal Musiala broke the deadlock in the 19th minute, coolly stroking home his 10th goal of the season after being teed up inside the box by Michael Olise, who registered his 10th assist of the campaign.

On the stroke of halftime, Harry Kane doubled Bayern’s advantage on his 50th Bundesliga appearance, guiding a pinpoint Kingsley Coman cross into the bottom corner with a well-placed header. The Englishman’s 54th Bundesliga goal ensured Bayern went into the break in control.

Less than a minute into the second half, Kane went on to add another to his sizeable collection, delicately heading home inside the box after Raphael Guerrero sent the ball towards Bayern's deadly number nine.

Continuing to flex their muscles, Serge Gnabry added to the scoreline with a simply world-class finish, unleashing a left-footed volley inside the box in the 54th minute after arriving as a second-half substitute.

Kiel were able to claw one back in the 62nd minute, as Finn Porath unleashed a fantastic strike from the right-hand side of the box, netting his first goal in the Bundesliga in fantastic fashion.

However, as the game reached its closing stages, Steven Skrzybski provided a lifeline for the visitors in added time at the end of the match, much to the annoyance of Bayern head coach Vincent Kopany.

The 32-year-old forward netted from inside the box to score in successive matches for the first time in the Bundesliga, and moments later added a second of the day to bring Kiel back within a goal of Bayern. It did prove, however, to be too little too late for the struggling visitors.

Bayern avoided a late scare after a relatively commanding performance prior to this. However, Kompany will undoubtedly carry huge frustrations regarding the way his side saw out the encounter.

VfB Stuttgart 1-2 Borussia Mönchengladbach

Gladbach started brightly and nearly broke through in the 6th minute when Kevin Stöger found himself one-on-one, but his volley cannoned off the face of Alexander Nübel. The visitors looked sharper in the final third early on and eventually capitalised in the 25th minute.

Nathan Ngoumou finished off a well-worked move with a superb half-volley into the roof of the net, leaving Nübel with no chance. Meanwhile, Stuttgart struggled to impose themselves despite seeing plenty of the ball, lacking penetration and posing little attacking threat in a frustrating first half.

However, the frustrations soon eased for VfB just three minutes into the second half. After gritting their teeth in the early stages, some nice link-up play between Nick Woltemade and Jakub Bruun Larsen allowed the Dane to slide the ball across the box in the direction of Ermedin Demirovic.

Though before the ball could reach the Bosnian international, Gladbach's Nico Elvedi's sliding attempt to block the cross ended up pushing the ball into his own net, seeing Stuttgart level the score at 1-1.

Despite the score being level, it took until the 70th minute for Stuttgart to register a shot on target. Latching onto the end of a long ball, Chris Führich failed to test Moritz Nicolas as he sent arguably the best chance of the game straight into the arms of the goalkeeper.

Compatriot Tim Kleindienst failed to capitalise on a one-on-one opportunity at the other end of MHPArena just moments later, with his strike hitting the onrushing Nübel. However as the encounter reached its final stages, both sides were beginning to look poised to net a late winner.

And it was the travelling Gladbach contingent that was able to celebrate doing exactly that in the 83rd minute, as Tim Kleindienst hammered home from a Lukas Ullrich cross. Whilst the goal was ruled out on the field, a lengthy VAR check ended with the decision of Ullrich being onside, which was followed by fantastic noise emerging from the away end at MHPArena.

Heidenheim 1-2 Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund dominated possession early on but struggled to create clear-cut chances. However, their persistence paid off in the 33rd minute when Serhou Guirassy broke the deadlock.

Heidenheim failed to clear a Dortmund corner, allowing Waldemar Anton to showcase some quick footwork before slipping the ball to Guirassy. The striker controlled expertly before calmly slotting past Kevin Müller to put BVB ahead.

Still searching for their first away win of the season, Dortmund looked to build on their lead in the second half and secure a much-needed three points, and this is something that BVB were able to do momentarily 20 minutes into the second half, as Maximillian Beier netted just his fourth goal for Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

However, the vulnerabilities of Die Schwarzgelben were showcased once again, as Heidenheim pulled a goal out of nowhere to drag themselves back into the encounter.

Mathias Honsak hammered home on the volley after a neat ball towards the Austrian from Frans Krätzig.

Managing to see out their first Bundesliga win of 2025, Borussia Dortmund held out in Heidenheim to really ease the pressure on the group.

VfL Bochum 0-1 SC Freiburg

Freiburg survived an early scare in the 8th minute when Nicolas Höfler nearly put the ball into his own net, deflecting a free-kick towards Noah Atubolu’s goal, only for the keeper to make a crucial save with his feet. Bochum came close yet again as the half progressed, as Gerrit Holtmann unleashed a thunderous strike from distance that narrowly missed the target.

Despite Bochum’s early pressure, Freiburg took the lead in the 34th minute through Kiliann Sidillia. Rising highest from a Christian Günter corner, the defender’s header took a slight touch off Hoffmann before nestling in the net. Regardless of the deflection, Sidillia will claim it as his first Bundesliga goal.

With Freiburg desperate for a win to get back on track after a below-par start to 2025, they headed into the break with a crucial advantage.

For most of the second half, Freiburg were penned in their own box as Bochum looked to force an equaliser at the Ruhrstadion.

However, as chances began to open up on the break, the visitors came agonisingly close to finding a second, as Lukas Höler failed to convert a chance inside the box after a great save from Patrick Drewes. Höler, however, should have done much better.

The visitors, however, were able to hang on to secure a vital three points. Freiburg now look towards improving their form in the upcoming weeks.

St. Pauli 1-1 FC Augsburg

St. Pauli entered this weekend looking to build upon a scintillating 3-0 win against Union Berlin on home soil last time out. They faced an Augsburg side also in good form at the Millerntor.

Pauli went on to open the scoring in dramatic fashion in the 17th minute, with Phillip Treu rising high to direct a powerful header on target. Finn Dahmen produced a stunning save, but Treu reacted quickly, bundling the ball off Noahkai Banks, who netted an own goal for Augsburg.

However, the game remained scrappy for large periods. With neither side grabbing the clash by the scruff of the neck, proceedings remained on a knife edge. And it was the visitors who were able to capitalise on this in the 83rd minute, as Mert Kömür sent the ball home from inside the box after getting on the end of a Dimitris Giannoulis cross.

In a clash between two of the Bundesliga's form sides of recent weeks, the final score proved to be a fair result both ways. However, St. Pauli will be particularly disappointed that they were unable to build on their recent run of form and register just their third win on home soil this season.
