As reported by Kicker, Yussuf Poulsen is willing to take a salary cut in order to join HSV.
The veteran RB Leipzig forward is no longer in the club’s plans, and a departure away from Saxony has long been in the making.
Poulsen had previously held talks with newly-promoted HSV, but the salary was deemed to be a stumbling block in negotiations.
However, the 31-year-old Danish international is now willing to take a salary cut within his current deal at Leipzig, in order for HSV to be able to eventually afford his salary once a transfer fee has been paid.
Poulsen will now receive €2m, including bonuses, instead of €7m.
Poulsen has played over 300 games for RB Leipzig and has been with the club throughout their rise from the 3. Liga to the Bundesliga and the Champions League. As per TransferMarkt, the Dane has a current market value of €5m. This is a fee HSV could easily afford and go through with once Poulsen’s salary issue has been resolved.
HSV’s signing of the experienced striker is edging closer.
