A resounding four-goal Women’s Super League victory handed Manchester City all three points against Leicester City at the Joie Stadium on Sunday.
Goals from Bunny Shaw, Jess Park and Mary Fowler kept Gareth Taylor’s side firmly in the title race as the WSL resumed following the international break.

With fans still taking their seats, Shaw got Man City’s afternoon off to a dream start. Heading the ball beyond Janina Leitzig, the Jamaican bagged her eighth WSL goal in just nine appearances. The 29th minute saw her double her tally for the afternoon, heading the ball home once again to give her side a comfortable advantage.
A rocket of a strike from Park put the hosts three goals ahead in the 49th minute. Just nine minutes later, Mary Fowler made it four, firing the ball cleanly beyond Leitzig.
Ultimately, the match finished with City claiming all three points from the victory. The win sees Manchester City remain second in the table whilst Leicester drop to twelfth.
Man City will host St. Pölten in Thursday’s Champions League clash. The Sky Blues are currently unbeaten in Europe, having handed current champions Barcelona a resounding 2-0 defeat in their opening group stage match.
Leicester will face Championship side Birmingham City in the League Cup on Wednesday evening. The Foxes are currently second in Group D having taken three points from their opening two games in the competition.
