Having been newly promoted to the Championship, Wrexham have done some shrewd business so far this summer with signing the likes of Josh Windass, Kieffer Moore, and Conor Coady to name a few.

The Welsh outfit are now looking to further bolster their attacking lineup, having made an enquiry to sign Guinea-Bissau winger Elves Balde on a free transfer from Portuguese side, Farense, following the expiry of his contract with the club, as reports TEAMtalk.

The 25-year-old has been a familiar face in the Portuguese league, having kicked off his career in the youth teams of Sporting Lisbon but failed to breakthrough into the first XI.

Balde had subsequent loan spells with fellow Liga Portugal sides Pacos Ferreira and Feirense from 2018-2020 before making a permanent move to Farense in 2021, where he spent the next four years.

Now being a free agent has attracted the interest of European sides, with Wrexham being among the list to sign the tricky winger, according to TEAMtalk.

Wrexham in competition for Balde's signature

With Wrexham making the step-up to the second tier of English football, having earned automatic promotion last season, the Guinea-Bissau winger would be an exciting addition at the Racecourse Ground, but face tough opposition for Balde's signature.

Balde has attracted attention from clubs across Europe and certainly has the potential to be a starlet wherever the destination.

Clubs such as Italian side Moderna, Famalicao in Portugal, and Deportivo Alaves in Spain have all been keeping a close eye on Balde, according to TEAMtalk.

Therefore, with the winger looking to assess his options in the coming weeks, his signing could prove to be very beneficial due to the low-cost it brings.

Balde could be a Championship star in the making if Wrexham can seal deal

Having made a bright start to his career by representing Portugal in his youth days, and winning the UEFA U19 European Championships, Balde burst onto the scene as a youngster but has yet to take his career to the next level.

Despite performance levels being high, goal contributions have been few and far between.

Balde over his last two league campaigns has merely managed to find the net twice in 48 appearances, a stat that could worry Wrexham fans.

However, after making the switch of nationality from Portugal to Guinea-Bissau in June 2024, Balde brings about national experience as well as a wealth of natural ability on the ball, which could see Wrexham propel up the table if his heart lies in Wales as his destination of choice.

The potential of a strong link-up with Wrexham's already impressive attacking line could excite Wrexham fans this fourthcoming season.
