Wolfsburg have reached a total agreement to sign Vinicius Souza from Sheffield United, according to Kicker. The Bundesliga side are set to pay a reported €15m for the Brazilian, who will sign a contract until 2030 upon the completion of his medical, which is set for today.
Souza – whose agent is former Wolfsburg defender Naldo – comes with Premier League experience having played 36 games for Sheffield United in the 2023/24 season prior to their relegation, before making 38 appearances across all competitions for the Blades last season. The arrival of Souza would significantly strengthen VfL defensive-midfield options, a position that they’ve been ‘working intensively’ to improve this summer.
The player’s arrival would arguably be Wolfsburg’s highest-profile signing since the transfer of Lovro Majer from Rennes in 2023 for €25m. He would also become the club’s third arrival this summer following Jakub Zielinski’s €900k move from Legia Warsaw and Aaron Zehnter transfer from Paderborn.
Wolfsburg also signed Mohamed Amoura and Denis Vavro on permanent deals following impressive loan spells last season.
