Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has informed young defender Raul Asencio that he will gradually start featuring in the first-team lineup from January.
This update, shared by Defensa Central, comes at a time when the club has been struggling with injuries and inconsistent results.
Despite these challenges, Asencio has shown enough promise to earn his place in the starting XI earlier this season, highlighting his potential as a key player for the future.
In recent matches, Asencio had been a regular starter, but his position in the team was soon affected by the return of Aurelien Tchouameni.
Ancelotti opted to rely on the French midfielder for his physical presence and aerial ability in central defence, which resulted in Asencio being relegated to the bench.
As the games went by, the young defender saw his opportunities reduce, leading to concerns about his role in the team.
Recognising the importance of clear communication, Ancelotti met with Asencio before the Christmas break to explain his plans.

The manager assured the young player that he would gradually start to feature in the lineup again, with a focus on the busy January schedule ahead.
“In January you will gradually start to get back into the games,” was Ancelotti’s message to the youngster.
It must be noted that Madrid will play multiple matches across four competitions in the coming weeks, giving Ancelotti a chance to rotate his squad and provide Asencio with more playing time.
Asencio is expected to get more minutes during this hectic period, with the Copa del Rey matches likely to be a key opportunity for him to showcase his abilities.
Ancelotti has made it clear that he sees Asencio as a valuable asset for the team, and the young defender will need to prove that he can contribute to the squad when called upon.
With a packed calendar ahead, Asencio will be eager to demonstrate his worth and solidify his place in the first team.
