Will Edon Zhegrova feature in a Lille shirt again? | OneFootball

The matchdays tick by and Edon Zhegrova (26) remains absent. The Kosovan international is running out of time to make his return.

Zhegrova hasn’t played for Lille OSC since 14th December. He has since undergone surgery on his pubis issue, however, there was a significant delay in opting to operate on the issue and as a result, he has now been absent for four months. The playmaker is struggling to make his return, much to his frustration and that of his current club, who are desperate to have him back as LOSC look to burst into the top four and return to the UEFA Champions League for next season.

However, as Bruno Genesio said on Thursday, he is simply not ready. “He doesn’t feel sufficiently at 100% to string together the training sessions and be in contention for a Ligue 1 match at the moment,” said the Lille manager. With just five games remaining after Saturday’s match against Toulouse FC, time is running out for Zhegrova to play again this season.

Will the Kosovan ever play for LOSC again? “I really hope so,” responded Genesio. But there is no guarantee. The club have already given the forward permission to leave the club this summer. Napoli made advances in the winter transfer window and they continue to follow the player closely. With a summer departure highly likely and no signs of an imminent return, Zhegrova’s final weeks at LOSC could be understated.
