It has been reported via the Guardian that Ben Doak is set to leave Liverpool in this summer's transfer window, with a move to fellow Premier League side AFC Bournemouth looking imminent.

The young Scot has been valued at £25m and the Merseyside club are set to receive that figure from Bournemouth following a promising season-long loan last year with Championship side Middlesbrough.

During his loan spell, Doak made 24 Championship appearances before picking up a thigh injury in April which kept him out of action for the remainder of the season.

Despite the injury setback, the 19-year-old had impressed at Boro, being a constant threat to any opposition on the right-wing.

Doak contributed to 10 goals last season, having found the net three times and provided seven assists in his cut-short season.

After making a move to Merseyside from Celtic in 2022, Doak came through the ranks with Liverpool's youth teams since his arrival but was yet to be given any consistent game time playing at a professional level until last season.

With the 19-year-old being sent out on loan for the first time in his fresh career at Middlesbrough, the Scottish international showcased his top-class abilities to the EFL.

Having suffered injuries early on in his career, Doak's signature comes with the worry of being injury-prone.

However, the highly-rated winger was one of Boro's brightest attacking sparks, with him being labeled by BBC Sport as an 'old-fashioned winger'.

Doak's desire to get on the ball, partnered with his proven ability to beat a man and take the game to the opposition are all attributes that made him a fan favourite at the Riverside Stadium last season.

One of Doak's most impressive performances in a Boro shirt came against West Brom at the Riverside back in January.

His 83rd minute strike was nothing short of a beauty, as the winger received the ball and cut in on his weaker left foot before whipping the ball into the top left-hand corner beyond the reach of Alex Palmer to round off an assured 2-0 victory.

His end product was evidently top quality during his loan spell, and he will hope to kick on as he looks set to join Bournemouth on a permanent deal.

The youngster's unfazed attitude and lack of fear in making the step-up to regular EFL football is a quality to be admired in Doak's game.

The winger earned his best run of games of his career so far because of his constant performance levels, which saw him quickly become a key part of former Boro boss, Michael Carrick's side.

Ben Doak's Middlesbrough loan benefited all clubs involved

His move to the Riverside was a win-win for all parties involved, as, on a personal note, Doak got his first taste of consistent game time in a professional capacity, whilst Boro fans got the excitement of having a raw-talented winger that could have led them into the play-off spots if it wasn't for his injury.

As for Liverpool, the Premier League giants are now reaping the rewards of selling the youngster for £25m after merely signing Doak for £600,000 from Celtic.

It will certainly go down as shrewd business from the Merseyside club, who will wish him the best as he seeks to continue his good form seen at Middlesbrough with his potential new club down South, Bournemouth.
