Arsenal are down to the bare bones in attack right now, just like Chelsea. That’s created an opportunity for Raheem Sterling, on loan from the Blues, to come into the mix, and Mikel Arteta was asked in his press conference yesterday about the impact Sterling could make:
“The most beautiful part of the season is still to come so there are going to be opportunities,” Arteta said.
“Raheem is so experienced, and like many other players, we know that what you did yesterday is not whether it was really good or not,” he said. “That could be relevant to the next game, to the next action. He’s fully focused, he’s trained really well this week and [is] ready to go again.”
Arteta also insisted Sterling potentially has a big part to play in this season:
“Yes [he does] and he has to have it because we really need him.”
“We are all behind him, we are the best for him and it’s going to be really important and we need his best. And we need the players only with that mindset to be here to impact the team.”

We’ve never had anything against Sterling personally – we were just frustrated by how silly it was to buy him, and then how poor he was for the most part in a Blue shirt. While we’re hardly keen to see Arsenal do well, we do need Sterling to step up and perform, otherwise this summer we’ve got a £300,000 a week problem coming right back to our doorstep.
Honestly, given his lack of impact so far, Sterling could probably score ten goals between now and the end of the season and not get bought by the Gunners – but at least some good performances could drum up interest from Saudi Arabia or MLS.
