An insight into the leading candidates to take charge of La Liga giants Real Madrid at this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup has on Monday been provided.
This, of course, comes ahead of an imminent change on the bench in Spain’s capital.
It is now common knowledge across the world of football that the brass at Real Madrid are ready to part with headmaster Carlo Ancelotti this summer.
With Los Blancos looking set for a trophyless season, the Italian will be sent on his way upon the close of the La Liga campaign.
As much means that a new face will be on the touchline for the reigning Spanish champions at the fast-approaching Club World Cup.
Xabi Alonso, the favourite to succeed Ancelotti at the Santiago Bernabéu, is considered unlikely to be installed in time for the newly-formatted tournament.
And as much could well open the door for an inside option at Real Madrid to temporarily take up the reins at senior level.
As per a report from Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport:
‘While the Spanish press has mentioned the option of Raul (coach of Castilla, the reserve team), Santiago Solari – currently director of football – is also very well placed’ to oversee matters at the Club World Cup.’
